Orange County Chavivim Visits Achyim B'Yachad of Chai Lifeline
Not every reason to bring the trucks out is an emergency. Today, Orange County Chavivim spent the day with the children of Achyim B'Yachad, a program of Chai Lifeline — and it was all about the kids. Members showed them around the operation, opened up the command center and the fly car for a closer look, walked them through some of the gear, and sent every child home with a frisbee.
Inside the Command Center
Members swung the back doors of the command center — the KJ-500 — open and let the kids see what lives inside: the equipment racks, the radios, and the setup the team leans on when a call turns into something bigger. Plenty of pointing, plenty of questions.
Climbing Into the Fly Car
The fly car — the KJ-501 — is usually first out the door on an everyday call, so this was the part a lot of the kids had been waiting for. They climbed right in: behind the wheel, into the seats, and up close with the lights and radios.
Hands-On With the Gear
Between the two trucks, members walked the kids through the equipment that comes off the apparatus on a real call — the tools the team reaches for when minutes matter. Plenty of questions, plenty of hands raised, and a close-up look at the kind of work that usually happens out on a shoulder or in the woods, well out of sight.
Frisbees for Everyone
No one left empty-handed. Members handed a frisbee to every child — a small thing, and the easiest part of the whole day to smile about.

We've blurred the children's faces out of respect for their privacy — but seeing their smiles as they explored the trucks alongside our members was priceless.
A Great Honor
It was a great honor to host the children of Achyim B'Yachad, and a great outing for our members too. Days like this are a reminder of why the division shows up — not only for the calls, but for the community behind them. Our thanks to Achyim B'Yachad and Chai Lifeline for spending the day with us.
